Press conference in Pécs

This year's Theatrical Festival is organized in the spirit of Tradition and Reformation

First NAGY Csaba, one of Pécs' deputy mayors, informed the numerous representatives of the press. He emphasized that this festival is very important for Pécs and that the local government will support the event according to the original plans. So POSzT will not be affected by restrictive measures, resulting by the difficult economic situation of the city.

CSIZMADIA Tibor, the president of the Hungarian Theatrical Company, spoke about the need to further enhance the event and to make it more international.

RÁZGA Miklós, the director of the National Theatre of Pécs, mentioned the role of a careful host and the establishment of a Festival club, which could be built up in the parking lot of the theatre.

Festival director STENCZER Béla listed the programmes which seem sure to be take place during the festival.
The competition performance - The Merchant of Venice - of the Tamási Áron Theatre (Sepsiszentgyörgy) will be available for the audience before the start of POSzT, so even more locals can see the performance. The auditorium, which can hold 140 guests, will be built on the stage of the National Theatre of Pécs.
According to the plans, the new centre of the Young Genius in the Assembly Hall programme series will be placed in the former Pawnshop of Király utca, with the help of Pécs Holding.
Also this year will bring a few high interest and exclusive OFF-programmes, for which the city's new concert hall, the Kodály Centre, will provide space.
(VARNUS Xaver's organ concert, the Rainman with KULKA János and NAGY Ervin.
A promising sensation is that the once legendary EAST band will give a concert after 17 years. They wish to invite SZAKCSI LAKATOS Béla and KULKA János as guest stars for the concert. There will be a showcase competition, the event series of the popular MÁRKUsZÍNHÁZ will appear again and rich programmes will await those who are interested at the renewed Kossuth tér too.

The main guest of the Theatrical Festival will be JORDÁN Tamás, whose life achievment exhibition will be presented in the Palatinus Pub at Széchenyi tér.

The OFF-programme plans were presented by the coordinator MÁTÉ Péter.
MÁRTON András and GULYÁS Dénes have already accepted the invitation for the highly popular subjective exhibition tour. As a new venue, it will be worthwhile to visit the Zsolnay District. The Open Forum and the Reader's Theatre events will again be hosted by the House of Arts and Literature.
Mass dances and mass recitals are planned on Kossuth tér, the BADORA Dance Company of Eger will step on stage, as well as actor bands and numerous concert bands.
The Croatian Theatre of Pécs and the Anna yard will again be the main venues for the colourful program series.

XI. POSzT will be opened on 9 June 2011 by TÖRŐCSIK Mari at the Színház tér. A stilted march is planned for the opening ceremony. Later, the Csík Orchestra will step on stage with a big concert.

The new art director MÁRTA István informed the press about his ideas. He said that he is very happy about the request, since many dear memories tie him to our city and also to POSzT, at which he was also present when it was founded.
Although he would turn the slogan Tradition and Reform around, because according to his ideas the current system should be changed on numerous points.

Thus with the words of MÁRTA István, the XII. POSzT would be organized in the light of Reform and Tradition.
